Amazon seems to be the most fast-growing company in the number of employees
Only within the latest 10 months of 2020, Amazon hired 427.3 thousand new employees to its previous number, now giving work in total to 1.2 million people. This is the fastest growth in absolute numbers of all commercial companies in the world and yet an unprecedented number of development. That might look normal before 2020 but not during the all-world financial crisis. However, Amazon has pushed its business indices high exactly thanks to the pandemic, topping the wave of Internet orders.
The number means that 1,400 new employees join Amazon every single day. It also actively builds warehouses and sorting centers globally, not only in the US. India and Italy have become locomotive countries in bringing up the number of warehouses.
Whilst the biggest part of the brought personnel are warehouse workers, Amazon also added engineers and specialists in hardware to power up its capabilities in streaming entertainment and cloud computing.
For reference: in mid-2017, Amazon hired ‘only’ 350,000 workers. In mid-2019, with the introduction of 1-day shipment, the employee number was 620,000.
